Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University popularly known as B. R. Ambedkar Bihar University was bifurcated from Patna University on 2nd January 1952. After bifurcation it was known as Bihar University which in 1992 became Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University. The university offers BA, B.Sc. and B.Com in General/Honours respectively and admission is purely on merit. Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent with minimum 50% aggregate from a recognized board of education to apply for admission. The University also offers MBA program admission of which is done through CAT or MAT. Postgraduate courses are also offered in various subjects like Commerce, Economics, English, Hindi, History, Mathili, Mathematics, Persian, Philosophy and Political Science.
